The VTCT NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy – Massage will give you the skills you need to carry out massage therapy treatments for the face and body. The course is the natural progression from your Level 2 NVQ, advancing you from junior level to a fully qualified therapist who’s highly sought after in employment.

Course Accreditation

This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional bodies (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).

Who Is The VTCT Level 3 Diploma In Beauty Therapy – Massage Route For?

Adults who want to build a beauty business and develop their skills but don’t have the time to go back to college. All you need is just two evenings a week on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Joining this course allows you to study around your busy lifestyle and you’ll be able to gain the qualifications you need to work as a fully qualified masseuse.

• The NVQ Level 3 Diploma runs for 8 months.
• Classes are held every Tuesday evening.

Requirements To Join  

• The minimum age of students is 16 years of age at the commencement of the course, with no upper age limit. 
• A Level 2 in Beauty Therapy is desirable but not essential. 
• A good general education is essential for this demanding course.
• Students must have a good level of English, including well-rounded communication skills and the ability to read and write in English.
• You will be required to complete case studies for each unit, a selection of assignments and activities before you sit each of the examinations. 

Fees

The total cost of the course is £2000 but we know this can be a struggle for many to pay in one lump sum. This is why we’ve spread the cost over 8 months interest-free.

How The Course Works

• We’ve streamlined our course and made the modules as efficient as possible to enable you to qualify in 32 weeks. 
• During this course, you’ll have theory classes and demonstrations to attend, along with home study assignments to complete. 
• Each module will contain an opportunity for practical study and for you to carry out the massage treatments.
• Throughout your study, our team of lecturers will be on hand to help you navigate your way through the course. 
• You’ll enjoy in-depth live demonstrations and theory classes to help you understand the benefits of each massage treatment. 

What Will I Study?

The following modules will be covered in the course:

Health and Safety 

You will be trained in Health and Safety best practices to ensure the wellbeing of your massage clients and shown how to carry out risk assessments in the workplace.  

Promotional Activities

Running a successful beauty business requires extensive sales knowledge. This unit will equip you with the skills you need to run effective promotions for your massages. This will help you boost sales and revenue. 

Anatomy and Physiology

The foundation of your course will be structured around human anatomy. This unit will cover all major systems of the human body: Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Urinary, Endocrine, Lymphatic, Nervous, Cardiovascular and Respiratory.

Body Massage

This unit will teach you the techniques needed to carry out a deep-tissue Swedish body massage. It will also explain how you can alter your techniques to suit the needs of different individuals. Alongside this, you’ll learn how to use G5, Audio Sonic and InfraRed mechanical treatments.

Pre-Blended Aromatherapy Massage

In this unit, you’ll learn about the benefits of using essential oils, how they are created and what their therapeutic properties are. We’ll teach you how to blend oils to best suit the needs of your clients and explain what massage routines complement certain blends. This module requires case studies to be performed at home.

Indian Head Massage

The Indian head massage is a treatment which focuses on the energy of the chakras, it relieves stress and improves circulation to the brain. This helps clear the mind whilst improving the condition of the hair and scalp. In this unit, you’ll be taught how to massage acupressure points along the head, neck, and shoulders to alleviate tension and provide deep relaxation. 

Stone Therapy Massage

A stone therapy massage uses the techniques learnt for a regular massage however you’ll be working with hot stones which enables you to penetrate the muscles at a deeper level. In this unit, you’ll learn how to carry out a hot stone massage along with the health benefits and techniques which you can combine to provide a better experience for your client.

Single Lash Extensions & Self-Tanning Services

You will need the following items before you begin your course:

• Students will need access to a laptop or computer to complete coursework and online exams.
• Your uniform is a black tunic, black trousers and black closed-toe flat shoes. This is part of your professional image and reflects what you would wear in a commercial setting. You will be required to wear your uniform to all classes.

A uniform and laptop are compulsory for the course and further details will be provided to you during the interview process.

What is not allowed?

• Jewellery and piercings are not allowed to be worn during class time. 
• Your hair should be neatly tied back with your fringe secured. We request that you avoid nail enhancements and keep your nails clean, short, and natural. 
• You should only wear light daytime makeup to class.

What Are The Next Steps?

Once you’ve completed your NVQ Level 3 Diploma in massage therapy you can begin work as a professional masseuse straight away. This can be freelance or employed in a salon or spa.
